Our trainees were given the task to create a set of products focussed on the theme of Disability Pride to be sold at the Hastings Pride event in August 2025 and beyond.

This involved researching the meaning of Pride and what Disability Pride meant to them. The trainees then collaborated to create physical body of artwork, based on that research, that would inform the various digital product designs. The products chosen to create designs for were:

Once the artwork has been created, our trainees then create mock ups of how that artwork will work on the various products chosen to be made. Designs are adapted, re-worked, and finalised at this point and this can often be one of the most challenging parts of the process. Designs are showcased and versions are chosen for final products. With final mock ups completed, pricing decisions are made based on production cost and market research.

Our trainees look at the various forms of packaging requirements for the selected products and the function of packaging in telling the story of the product as well as the brand. Thinking about presentation, colour, font, information requirements and layout is a critical element of this part of the process. Trainees will also create any digital media required for promotion at this stage and then it's off to market!
